US Ready to Provide Weapons to Ukraine with NATO Funds
The US and NATO are adopting a new method to provide weapons to Ukraine, under which the purchase or transfer of American weapons will be paid for with NATO countries’ funds.
According to a foreign news agency report, a European official said that through this method, NATO allies hope to provide Ukraine with weapons worth $ 10 billion, but it is not clear in what period these weapons will be provided.
A senior NATO official also described the move as a coordinated voluntary effort by NATO and said that this new plan includes a NATO account where allied countries can deposit money to buy weapons for Ukraine, which will be approved by NATO’s top military commander.
According to the report, negotiations are underway for a shipment of weapons for Ukraine under the new method.
On the other hand, the report states that NATO Headquarters, the White House, the Pentagon, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington have not yet responded to requests for comment on this news.
