US Announces to Leave UNESCO Again in Support of Israel
US State Department spokesman Timi Bruce said living in UNESCO is “not in the US national interest”
The United States has announced a re -separation from UNESCO (UNESCO), the UN educational, scientific and cultural institution.
The US government says UNESCO is prejudiced against Israel and promotes the “distribution” social and cultural agenda globally.
US State Department spokeswoman Timi Bruce said living in UNESCO is “not in the US national interest”. The decision was made by President Donald Trump in 2017, but during the Biden era, the United States became a member of UNESCO again.
Now, after Trump’s return, the announcement of the US institution has come out again, which will be effective in December 2026.
UNESCO Director General Audrey Azole expressed regret over the decision, saying that the move negates the principles of multilateralism (multilateral cooperation). However, he acknowledged that the decision was expected and the company was ready.
UNESCO said that despite the US withdrawal, the company will not make much difference financially as the US budget contributions have dropped from 20 % to 8 % over the past decade.
The United States has accused UNESCO that it has increased the anti -Israeli statement by recognizing Palestine as a state, and that calling Palestinian cultural sites in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem is against US policy.
