US Air Force Suspends Space X's Rocket Project
If the new location is selected in the future and the review is completed, the project will resume only
The US Air Force has recently temporarily suspended the joint rocket cargo project with SpaceX.
According to media reports, the decision was made due to environmental protection concerns, especially due to the protection of the population of sensitive birds on Johnston ATOL.
The plan was a cargo delivery experience through a hypersonic rocket in Johnston Ethol, in which rockets could deliver up to 100 tonnes of cargo and provide immediate logistic support at speeds of up to 90 minutes.
It is located on a square mile of 14 different bird breeds that act as a nursery for Annik. Biologists and experts warn that the sound, evolution and infrastructure of the launch could affect the nesting of these birds.
Earlier, the air force announced an environmental review, but the draft report was not published as environmental groups strongly opposed. A petition, which had more than 3,800 signatures, played an important role in preventing the project.
However, the air force has said it is looking for alternative places on which these tests can be environmentally safe. If a new location is selected in the future and the review is completed, then the project will resume.
