U.S. Pressures Russia with August 8 Deadline for Peace in Ukraine, Warns of Economic Measures
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has given Russia a new deadline to end the ongoing war with Ukraine.
He has said that the Moscow government now has only the time till August 8, otherwise the United States will impose additional tariffs and economic sanctions on Russia.
President Trump initially granted Russia 50 days to take steps for a ceasefire, but now he has changed the deadline and fixed the final date of August 8.
He has warned that if Russia does not show seriousness, the United States will make tough decisions at the commercial level, which will include tariff increase.
On the other hand, the US delegation at the UN Security Council said in his address that Russia and Ukraine should hold immediate talks for ceasefire and permanent peace. He said the United States was also ready to take additional steps to make peace.
