Trump's Additional Tariffs on India, Boris Johnson Calls the Decision "Brave and Logical
According to the White House, the move is in response to India’s energy purchases from Russia
London/Washington: Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose an additional 25% tariff on India a “brave and logical” move.
Without naming India, he said that countries that are funding Putin’s war machine by buying Russian oil and gas should be punished.
Trump announced on Wednesday that an additional 25% duty is being imposed on goods imported from India, bringing the total US tariff to 50%. According to the White House, the move is in response to India’s energy purchases from Russia.
President Trump said that “India is not a good trading partner” because it is indirectly supporting the war in Ukraine by buying oil from Russia.

Boris Johnson raised the question: “When will Britain and Europe have the courage to do so?” He stressed that such decisions are necessary to weaken Russia’s military power.
On the other hand, India has called the US move regrettable and unfair. The Indian Foreign Ministry said that India is doing what other countries do in its national interest, and this decision by the US is unfair and unjustified.
India has indicated that it will take all possible measures to protect its interests.
