Trump Open to Ukraine-Russia Peace Talks After Envoy’s Moscow Visit
Trump Open to Meeting Putin and Zelensky, Says White House
Washington, D.C. — U.S. President Donald Trump is open to holding talks with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the White House confirmed on Wednesday.
According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, “The Russians expressed their desire to meet with President Trump, and the president is open to meeting with both President Putin and President Zelensky.”
The possibility of such meetings was discussed during a high-level call between President Trump and President Zelensky. A senior Ukrainian source revealed that the call also included NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, as well as the leaders of Britain, Germany, and Finland.
The discussion followed a diplomatic visit to Moscow by Washington’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, who held preliminary talks with Russian officials earlier in the day.
