Washington: An important trade agreement between the United States and Japan has been reached, which has reduced the proposed 25 % import tax on Japanese products to 15 %. With this deal, Japan has promised to invest $ 550 billion in the United States and open its markets for US products.
According to the World News Agency, US President Donald Trump said in his statement that the deal is a new development in bilateral trade relations and will further strengthen the long -term friendly relations between the two countries.
According to President Trump, the deal is one of the most important trade agreements reached by the White House before the additional revenue imposed on August 1.
According to preliminary details, the contract has also reduced the 25 % import tax imposed on Japanese vehicles to 15 %, which is one of Japan’s largest export products.
Remember that in 2024, the bilateral trade volume between the United States and Japan was about $ 230 billion, with Japan gaining $ 70 billion in trade. Japan is the fifth largest trade partner in the United States.
Following the news of the deal, the Japanese stock market saw significant improvement, especially Honda, Toyota and Nissan’s shares increased by more than 8 %. The US market also saw improvement in equity futures, while the value of the yen fell stronger against the dollar.
On the other hand, Japanese Prime Minister Shigro Ashiba, speaking to reporters in Tokyo this morning, confirmed that he had received a preliminary report from Japanese negotiators in Washington, but refused to comment on the details of the deal.
