According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, 8 Turkish soldiers were killed and 11 were injured in a cave in northern Iraq.
The statement said the incident took place on Sunday, when the Turkish army was busy searching for the remains of a soldier killed during an ongoing operation against the banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
According to the Defense Ministry, 11 other soldiers affected by gas emissions have been shifted to hospital, some of which are reported to be in critical condition.
