Thailand and Cambodia agree on ceasefire, Malaysian Prime Minister announces
The agreement was reached during high-level talks in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur
The talks were attended by the acting Prime Minister of Thailand, the Prime Minister of Cambodia and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, while the US and Chinese ambassadors were also present on the occasion.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told the media that both sides have not only agreed on ceasefire but have also decided to restore direct contacts.
He said that the US president also appealed to the heads of both countries to find a peaceful solution.
The Cambodian Prime Minister termed the talks “encouraging” and said the fight would be stopped immediately.
It is to be remembered that in the recent border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, 35 people have been killed and more than 3 million displaced.
