Reduce Drug Prices or Face Punishment, Trump Warns Pharmaceutical Companies
Trump’s campaign is being seen as a major step towards relieving the American people of the burden of expensive drugs
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has strongly warned major pharmaceutical companies that strict measures will be taken if they do not reduce medicine prices.
President Trump said on his social media platform “Truth Social” that he had sent letters to 17 major pharmaceutical companies demanding that they take practical steps to reduce prices within 60 days.
He said that if the companies did not cooperate, the government would use all their powers to provide relief to the American people.
Trump described the initial responses of pharmaceutical companies as disappointing, saying that these answers only talk about the allegations and policies that are only in the benefit of the industry, not the public.
President Trump issued a decree decree to reduce medicine prices in May this year, and now he has made it clear that additional tariffs will be imposed on pharma companies if the prices of medicines are not brought to other countries of the world.
The campaign of Trump is being considered a big step to save the American people from the burden of expensive medicine.
