The PIA made this feat by Boeing 720 aircraft, and thus the company became the first Asian airline to introduce jet aircraft. Thanks to this wonderful tradition, PIA left many significant impressions not only in South Asia but also in global aviation.
Founded in 1954, the PIA soon gained global fame. In 1964 it became the first non -communist airline to go to China. In 1985, PIA provided technical support in the establishment of the Emirates Airlines, while in 2005, the same company also completed the longest non -stop commercial flight from Hong Kong to London.
PIA not only highlighted Pakistan’s culture globally but also introduced modern features such as flight entertainment in South Asia.
Currently, PIA has 32 aircraft, including Airbus A320 and Boeing 777. Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad are its main operational centers. However, after the failure of the pilot license scandal and safety audit in 2020, travel sanctions have been imposed on PIA in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Now the government is active in restoring the institution through the process of privatization. By the middle of 2025, four bids have gone through the early stages, which are a manifestation of interest in privatization.
