Palestinian Support and Israel Strongly Condemned at The First Meeting of The Selected Australian Parliament
Outside parliament, hundreds of citizens protested in favor of Palestine and demanded sanctions on Israel
During the first meeting of the newly elected parliament of Australia, protests in favor of Palestine demanded sanctions on Israel.
According to the World News Agency, Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens Senator Mehr Farooqi had picked up a play card during the speech of Attorney General Sam Mostin.
It was written that “Gaza is starving, words are not enough, banning Israel.” Several members also stood with them for solidarity.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said what they are seeing in Gaza is incapable, the hostages should still be released but the war should end.
He added that a joint statement was sent by the government in the form of a letter in which the Gaza situation took a strong stand.
On the other hand, there were hundreds of people gathered outside the parliament, who protested in favor of Gaza and demanded sanctions on Israel.
Some of the protesters protested in favor of Gaza also tried to enter Parliament, where police personnel detained more than a dozen people.
