The foreign ministers of Syria and Russia shake hands after a press conference in Moscow.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asad al -Shibani had an important meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. On this occasion, the Russian Foreign Minister invited the Syrian President to attend the Russian Arab Countries Summit in October.
During the meeting with the Russian and Syrian Foreign Ministers, it was agreed to set up a field hospital in the troubled area of Syria. Russia assured practical help in dealing with the current problems facing Syria.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia is a strong supporter of Syria’s sovereignty and unity and is committed to further strengthening relations with Syria.
The Russian Foreign Minister further said that all agreements between the two countries would be re -evaluated. Syria has taken important steps for the security of Russian diplomats, Russia supports interfaith national dialogue in Syria.
He said that Russia considers the recent actions of President Ahmad al -Sharia a positive development for the crisis.
It should be noted that this is the first direct contact between Russia and Syria since the collapse of former Syrian President Bashar al -Assad.
