Kenya: 8 People Were Killed, More Than 400 Injured In Anti -Government Protests
According to eyewitnesses, police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters
At least 8 people were killed and more than 400 were injured during anti -government protests in Kenya. The protests were held last year on the occasion of the anniversary of protests against the tax bill that killed more than 60 people.
According to Kenya’s Government Human Rights Commission (KNCHR), all of the dead were allegedly shot and killed. The injured included protesters, policemen and journalists, the statement said.
According to eyewitnesses from local media and Reuters, police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters. There were clashes between protesters and police in some places.
More than 100 injured were brought to Kenya’s Central Hospital, Kenyota National Hospital, most of whom were injured in bullets or rubber bullets. The hospital administration, however, did not confirm the casualties.
A large group of protesters moved to the President’s official residence, the state house, which was broadcast live by the TV channel NTV. However, the Kenyan broadcasting agency stopped these channels from direct coverage, which the court suspended the ban.
