Israeli Parliament's Controversial Decision To Further Strengthen The Occupation Of Palestinian Territories
The Palestinian leadership says that this decision is a clear violation of international law and UN resolutions
Israel has officially legalized 19 Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank. According to Israeli media, the Israeli parliament (Knesset) has approved this.
According to reports, this proposal was submitted by far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defense Minister Israel Katz, which was approved by a majority of the parliament.
The Palestinian Authority strongly condemned this decision by Israel, calling it destructive for the Palestinian state and the future peace process.
A statement issued by the Palestinian Authority said that this move exposes Israel’s true intentions, which include annexation of Palestinian territories, racial discrimination and strengthening the system of complete occupation.
The Palestinian leadership says that this decision is a clear violation of international law and UN resolutions, under which Jewish settlements in the West Bank are considered illegal. There is also a possibility of a global backlash to this decision.
