Israeli Cabinet Approves Controversial Plan for Full Military Occupation of Gaza
Hamas says Israeli aggression and occupation will be responded to with full resistance
TEL AVIV: Israel’s political and security cabinet has approved a plan to take military control of Gaza, which was announced just hours after Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent statement.
According to Reuters, Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News that Israel wants military control of all of Gaza to eliminate Hamas. A statement from his office said that “the Israeli army will prepare to take control of Gaza City, while providing humanitarian aid to civilians outside the war zones.”
Gaza City, located in the northern strip, is the largest and most important civilian area. The Israeli cabinet has made it clear that under the current circumstances, no alternative proposal can defeat Hamas or return Israeli hostages.
According to official sources, the resolution, approved by the security cabinet, will require full cabinet approval, which is likely to be received by Sunday.
Earlier, the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas condemned Netanyahu’s statement, saying that he was planning genocide and forced displacement in Gaza, and was ready to sacrifice Israeli hostages for his personal interests. Hamas says that the Israeli aggression will be responded to with full resistance.
