India Rejects NATO Chief Threats of Russian Oil Sanctions

New Delhi: India has rejected NATO chief Mark Rutte’s threat of “100 percent secondary sanctions” on Russian oil and gas buyers and warned Western countries not to “double standards” on the issue.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jeswal said that India’s top priority is to meet the energy needs of its people, which is made in light of the resources and current conditions available in the global market.
It should be noted that although the European Union has significantly reduced its dependence on Russian oil, some European countries are still buying Russian oil directly or through a third country.
According to “Foreign Policy”, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria and Spain were among the top European countries paying Russian oil in 2024.
According to the report, processing Russian crude oil in India is manufactured like petrol and diesel, which are later exported to Europe.
Addressing Washington, Mark Rotte said that Russian -trading countries phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin to take peace talks seriously to end the Ukrainian war, otherwise it would have a negative impact on Brazil, India and China.
