"I'm Putting Nuclear Missiles on the Roof of the White House!", Trump's New Joke
The 79-year-old president says he will do all this construction work with his own money
US President Donald Trump surprised the media by suddenly appearing on the roof of the White House and also joked about installing nuclear missiles. At this time, tensions between Russia and the United States are increasing.
Trump, who was surrounded by his security team and snipers, walked on the roof of the press room for about 20 minutes. When reporters asked why he was on the roof, he laughed and said that he was “just taking a little walk.” And when asked what he planned to build there, he jokingly said: “Nuclear missiles” — and then imitated launching missiles with his hand gestures.
The incident occurred at a time when Trump, responding to statements by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines near Russia.
Trump has announced a slew of new projects at the White House, including a grand ballroom, as he seeks to make his own personal mark on the American presidency. He has already mowed the Rose Garden lawn and decked out the Oval Office in a royal gold hue.
The 79-year-old president says he will pay for all of the construction, which will cost about $200 million, with some help expected from private donors.
“This is another way for me to spend money for the country,” he said.
Trump is known for his informal and quirky public antics — such as announcing his candidacy for president from a golden escalator in 2015, or his past campaign appearances in a garbage truck and serving fries at McDonald’s.
