Historic Protest in Favor of Palestine on Sydney Harbour Bridge, 300,000 People Participated
The march was made possible after organizers won a court case and obtained legal permission
Thousands of people marched against the ongoing Israeli operations in Gaza on the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia on Sunday despite heavy rain, demanding an immediate ceasefire, the restoration of aid and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The demonstration was called the “March for Humanity”, and included everyone from senior citizens to families with children. Many protesters carried Palestinian flags and some carried pots and pans as a symbol of hunger. The marchers chanted: “We are all Palestinians.”

According to New South Wales Police, more than 90,000 people participated in the demonstration, while organizers claim that the number of participants was close to 300,000. The march was made possible after organizers won a court case and obtained legal permission.

Australian politicians also attended the march, including Labor Party member Ed Hussain and Greens Party senator Mehreen Farooqui. They called for tougher sanctions on Israel and recognition of a Palestinian state.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese supports a two-state solution but has so far refrained from recognizing a Palestinian state.

The march comes at a time when countries such as France, Canada and the United Kingdom appear ready to recognize a Palestinian state, while Israel has strongly condemned these decisions.
