Helping Russia in the Ukraine War by Buying Petrol; Modi Government's Response to US Accusations
The US President has also announced a significant increase in tariffs on India
President Trump’s special advisor had accused India of helping Russia in the Ukraine war by buying petrol from it, to which India’s response also came to light today.
According to the international news agency, in response to the US accusation, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ statement said that we are an independent country and Russia is our reliable partner.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ statement further said that our relations with Russia are old and tested. Which cannot be seen from the perspective of any third country.
The statement clearly states that national interest is the first priority and purchasing oil from Russia is in our national interest. Therefore, purchasing oil from Russia will continue.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ statement further said that our purchase of petrol from Russia also helps in balancing oil prices in the global market.
It should be remembered that yesterday, US Deputy Chief of Staff and close ally of Trump, Stephen Miller, said that it is in no way acceptable for President Trump to support India in the war against Ukraine by buying Russian petrol.
US President Trump also wrote on “Truth Social” on July 30 that if India wants to, it will destroy its and Russia’s economies, I don’t care.
He also raised questions about India being part of the BRICS alliance, whose founding members include Russia and China.
It should be noted that India purchases the most weapons from Russia and has also been buying oil at cheap prices since 2022 due to sanctions imposed on Russia due to the Ukraine war.
