Helicopter Crashes During Training Flight In Britain, 3 Killed
The injured passenger has been taken to hospital where his condition is said to be critical
London: A helicopter crashed during a training flight in the British Isle of Wight, killing three people including the pilot on the spot and seriously injuring one person.
According to British media, the helicopter had taken off from Sandown Airport at 9 am for a training exercise. Flight operator “Northumbria Helicopters” has confirmed that there were 4 people on board the flight, including the pilot.
Authorities say that only 24 minutes after the flight, it was reported that it had crashed in a field near the road in the Shanklin area. Rescue agencies immediately reached the scene of the accident, surrounded the area and closed the nearby road to traffic.
Initially, the cause of the helicopter crash was not known. The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has launched an investigation and has sent experts to the scene to collect evidence.
