The Italian Prime Minister added that his country is ready to provide practical cooperation to bring stability to Gaza
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has said that after the Gaza ceasefire agreement, his country is closer than ever to recognizing Palestine as a state.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a peace conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, Meloni said, “If this agreement is fully implemented, Italy’s recognition of Palestine will certainly be close.”
He said that Italy supports the establishment of a Palestinian state and will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
The Italian Prime Minister added that his country is ready to provide practical cooperation to bring stability to Gaza, even deploying the Italian Carabinieri force if necessary under a UN resolution.
“Italy is ready to play its part, this is a historic day and I am proud that Italy is part of this process,” she said.
