UN Relief Chief and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher has made a worrying revelation that Gaza has officially become a famine.
According to the World News Agency, Tom Fletcher admitted during a UN briefing in Geneva that the famine in Gaza. It was something that we could have prevented, but we were stopped from working.
He further said that trucks full of food are piling up on the borders of Gaza, but due to Israeli barriers, the people of Gaza are starving.
Tom Fletcher, while mentioning Israeli cruelty, said that this famine is in an area where there is abundant food just a few hundred meters away, but neither aid is allowed to come nor Palestinians are being allowed to go there.
He also said that the crisis is affecting children, women and the vulnerable the most. Parents are being forced to decide which child to feed.
Tom Fecher said that this is a 21st century famine that the world is watching from the shadows of drones and the latest military technology.
He complained that the United Nations and aid agencies have repeatedly warned, but international media have not been allowed to enter Gaza.
Tom Fecher criticized the Netanyahu cabinet, saying that some Israeli leaders are using this hunger as a “weapon of war”.
He added that this famine is caused by cruel policies, vindictive thinking, global indifference and lack of partnership. It is a source of shame for the whole world and we are all responsible for it.
On this occasion, Tom Fletcher appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to immediately declare a ceasefire and open all crossings in the north and south so that food and relief supplies can be delivered on a large scale.
He admitted that he is in constant contact with the US government and that President Trump has also instructed to end this famine, but practical steps are urgently needed.
Meanwhile, the brazen Israeli Foreign Ministry rejected the UN report on the famine in Gaza, saying that it is all Hamas propaganda spread by vested interests.
