Conditional willingness to Netanyahu's ceasefire, Qatari invitation to negotiate
Israel has rejected Hamas’s terms in the draft ceasefire agreement
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pointed out that he is ready to start talks in Gaza to release ceasefire and hostage, for which a delegation of Israel will be sent to Qatar.
Israel’s reaction came after Hamas offered immediate talks, but Netanyahu says the changes proposed by Hamas in the draft ceasefire agreement are not acceptable to Israel.
A statement issued by Netanyahu’s office said that Israel was informed about the proposals provided by Qatar and the Hamas changes last night, but many of these points have objected to Israel.
The statement further said that after reviewing the situation, Netanyahu has directed the Qatari invitation to pave the way for negotiations so that talks can be taken on the terms that Israel has already agreed to return the hostages.
The talks with Qatar and the US efforts are expected at a time when the Israeli leadership for the first time in 21 months has shown a relaxation to end the conflict. According to Al Jazeera’s reporter, Hamada Salhot, so far, Netanyahu has been under pressure from the Israeli hostages and European allies, but this time the real source of pressure is directly America, which has been shown by Netanyahu’s recent consultations.
The Israeli Prime Minister will leave for Washington next night after further consultation with his cabinet and security officials, where he will discuss a possible ceasefire with former US President Donald Trump. US officials say Israel initially expressed principle willingness to propose a 60 -day ceasefire, which may begin immediately.
Unlike the previous position, when Netanyahu insisted that no ceasefire proposal could be accepted unless the complete abolition of Hamas and the release of the hostages was ensured, they are now considering how Israel can achieve its security goals through negotiations.
According to reports, practical talks on a ceasefire in Qatari mediation are expected in the next few days, which could pave the way for the end of the bloodshed in Gaza and the return of the hostages.
