Clashes Erupt in Berlin as Pro-Palestinian and Pride Marches Collide; Dozens Arrested
Pro-Palestinian demonstrations have also intensified in other European countries in the wake of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza
Police arrested 57 people after a clash in Palestine on the occasion of the annual Pride March in the German capital Berlin, while 17 policemen were injured.
According to the International News Agency AFP, about 10,000 people participated in the demonstration, organized by the “International Query Pride for Liberation” movement. The purpose of the demonstration was to raise the voice of solidarity and Zionism with the Palestinians.
According to police, the arrests were made to disrupt public discipline, resist the police, throw bottles, dispute, and to take symbols of terrorist organizations, including anti -Jewish slogans. Police confirmed these reasons on social media.
On the same day, a regular Pride Parade was also held in another area of Berlin, where police arrested 64 people on various charges.
On the other hand, right -wing militants also staged a separate demonstration in which 20 people were arrested.
Protests in favor of Palestine have intensified in the wake of Israeli attacks on Gaza in Germany and other European countries. Although Germany has long been an ally of Israel, the German government has openly criticized Israel due to civilian casualties and the humanitarian crisis in recent times.
Germany says it considers recognizing the Palestinian state as one of the last steps of the two -state solution.
