Chlorine Gas Leak In Karbala, More Than 600 Pilgrims Rushed To Hospital After Suffocation

More than 600 pilgrims were temporarily transferred to the hospital due to difficulty breathing due to a chlorine gas leak in the Iraqi city of Karbala.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Health, 621 people complained of suffocation after the chlorine gas leak in Karbala, however, all the patients recovered after the necessary treatment and returned home.
The incident occurred due to a chlorine leak at a water treatment station located between Karbala and Najaf. This route is important for millions of Shiite pilgrims who come to visit the shrines of Imam Hussein (RA) and Hazrat Abbas (RA) and commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (RA) on the occasion of Arbaeen.
According to security forces, the gas leak came from a water station, while Iraq’s infrastructure is in disrepair due to years of conflict and corruption, and safety standards are often lax.
