Anti-Drone Revolution: China's Laser And High-Power Microwave Weapons Unveiled
These systems are capable of simultaneously disabling drones that attack in groups
Beijing: China introduced the world’s most advanced weapons, including high-energy lasers and high-power microwave weapons, in a military parade held to mark the 80th anniversary of its victory in World War II.
These weapons were presented along with anti-drone missiles and artillery systems. According to experts, laser weapons can target drones in just a few seconds, as they have the ability to recognize, focus on and track the target.
High-energy laser weapons are being touted as a cheap and effective anti-drone system due to their low cost, unlimited ammunition and high accuracy. On the other hand, high-power microwave weapons burn the electronic components of drones through powerful electromagnetic rays, rendering them inoperable. The system is also capable of disabling drones that attack in groups at the same time.
The parade also featured the first glimpse of the “LY One Shipborne Laser Weapon,” which is designed to be mounted on warships. According to experts, the weapon can target not only drones but also anti-ship missiles and enemy optical sensors,
