Another European Country Recognizes Palestine, Increasing Pressure on Israel
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and France have also announced recognition of Palestine in recent days
The European country of Malta has announced that it will recognize Palestine as an independent state. Prime Minister Robert Abella made the announcement in a Facebook message on Tuesday evening.
He said the move would be taken in September at a meeting of the UN General Assembly.
The Prime Minister said that our position shows our commitment to permanent peace in the Middle East.
The Malta government was under increasing pressure to recognize Palestine from within its party, while the Center Rights Opposition also demanded immediate recognition in mid -July.
It should be remembered that British Prime Minister Career Starmer and France have also announced the recognition of Palestine in recent times. Earlier, Ireland, Norway and Spain also acknowledged the Palestinian state in May.
Malta is one of the countries that have long been supportive of a two -state solution and have been supporting the Palestinian people.
