Amid Gaza Crisis, Netherlands Urges EU to Cut Israel's Research Funds and Punish Extremist Ministers
The Dutch government has also supported the European Union’s demand to limit Israel’s research funding
The Dutch government has reacted strongly, calling Israeli atrocities in Gaza a “unbearable and unbeaten”.
The Netherlands have announced to call the Israeli ambassador and ban two extremist Israeli ministers from entering the country.
According to Reuters, the Dutch government issued a letter on Monday night stating that it would record the serious situation in Gaza.
The government has banned Minister Atmar Bin Gaeer and Bezelil Summitich, alleging allegations of inciting Palestinians against Palestinians, supporting illegal settlements and advocating for ethnic dissolution in Gaza.
Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Weld Camp told Parliament that the two ministers had repeatedly tortured the settlers and openly supported the genocide in Gaza.
In June, the Netherlands supported Sweden’s proposal, demanding the European Union to impose sanctions on these ministers, but the proposal could not be approved due to the absence of all member states.
Israeli ministers defended their position in response. Samutichich accused the European leadership of bowing to “extremist Islam” on social media, while Bin Gavier said he would continue to work for Israel, even if the whole of Europe would stop them.
The Dutch government has also supported the European Union’s demand for a limiting Israeli investigative funding and warned that if Israel violated the relief agreement, it would emphasize trade sanctions.
