Storm Danas Shook Taiwan; 2 People Killed, More Than 330 Injured
More than 700 trees and road indicators opened at speeds of up to 220 km per hour.
Severe storms in southern Taiwan have seen horrific catastrophe. Two people were killed and more than 330 injured as a result of strong winds and rains, while 5 million houses have been cut off.
Storms in Taiwan often hit the eastern mountainous regions, but storm Danas has unusually targeted the western coastal areas, which are highly populated areas.
According to officials, winds of 220 km per hour have destroyed more than 700 trees and road indicators. The most stormy winds were recorded in the Union County.
In his message on Facebook, Taiwanese President Lai Chung -te told the public to take full precautions, as the storm could affect all parts of the country.
Authorities say one person died of a tree falling and the other was shut down.
No major loss has been reported yet in Taiwan Science Park, where the global technology company TSMC is located.
On the other hand, a risk alert has also been issued in Xi Jiang, the eastern province of China. According to the Chinese Meteorological Department, the storm will land on Tuesday night between Fujian and Taizo. As a precautionary measure, 121 passenger ships, 64 ferry services, and 181 construction projects have been suspended.
