Thai Court Suspends Prime Minister In A Phone Call Scandal
The court has made it clear that the Prime Minister’s suspension will remain till the full hearing of the case and the verdict.
Thailand’s Constitutional Court has temporarily suspended the country’s Prime Minister Petungatran Shinawatra from his post.
The move was taken when a controversial phone call was leaked and he was accused of constitutional violations.
According to a court statement, the Prime Minister could not perform his duties until the petition filed by 36 senators.
Senators have made serious allegations against the Prime Minister, such as misconduct, non -transparent government and violation of the country’s constitution.
The controversy began when a phone call was leaked to the Thai Prime Minister’s former Cambodian Prime Minister, in which she was heard criticizing a senior Thai army officer.
The phone call came out after clashes on the Thai-Kambodia border, which faced severe public and political pressure, even demanding resignation.
The court has made it clear that the suspension of the Prime Minister will remain intact till the full hearing of the case and the verdict.
