Unusual Snowfall In Several Parts Of Australia After Decades

NEW SOUTH WALES: Several towns in the eastern region of Australia have been blanketed in white after decades due to unusual snowfall, and several accidents have also been reported.
According to a foreign news agency report, officials said that many parts of eastern Australia have been covered by a thick layer of snow after decades, while this week the worst flooding in the area due to rain, vehicles were stuck and hundreds of homes were affected by power outages.
Meteorologist Miriam Brandbury of the Australian Bureau of Meteorology said that 16 inches of snow fell in several parts of New South Wales on Saturday, which is the heaviest snowfall since the mid-1980s.
She said that snow also fell in the neighboring state of Queensland after 10 years.
They said that climate change has worsened the weather in Australia in recent years, but such events have occurred many times in recorded history.
Miriam Brandbury said that what is unusual about this snowfall is the amount of frozen snow and the large area it has fallen over, which has engulfed most of the northern regions.

The New South Wales state emergency service said that there has been heavy rain in many areas and so far more than 1,445 accidents have been reported, more than 100 vehicles are stuck in the snow, and several buildings have been damaged by the wind.
The emergency service said in a statement that several flood alerts have been issued so far.
The Australian government broadcaster reported that hundreds of homes were without power overnight.
Police in Australia’s densely populated state of New South Wales said that a car was stuck in the flood on Saturday night and a 20-year-old woman was swept away, for whom the search is still ongoing.
