Australia Also Indicates That It Will Recognize The Palestinian State As Soon As Possible.
France, Canada, Britain and Malta have also announced their recognition of the Palestinian state.
Australian Finance Minister Jim Chalmers has said that recognizing the Palestinian state is just a matter of time.
According to the World News Agency, the Australian Finance Minister said in an interview to a local broadcasting agency that the final date for recognizing the Palestinian state cannot be given, but this is possible soon.
Jim Chalmers added that, however, the treatment of Hamas hostages and the potential role of Hamas in the Palestinian state of the future is serious obstacles to Australia.
It is to be noted that this surprising change in Australia’s position came after Prime Minister Albaniz’s statement in which he made it clear that the Palestinian state did not intend to recognize the state.
The possible reason for the change in Australia’s position has come after France, Canada, the United Kingdom and Malta announced their recognition of Palestine by September.
Although Australia has not yet officially announced the recognition of the Palestinian state, Prime Minister Albaniz has repeatedly stated the right to stay within Israel’s secure borders and the right to state sovereignty for the Palestinian people.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanzee reiterated support for a two -state solution to Israel and Palestine in a meeting with a British counterpart.
In a statement, Albaniz said that the two leaders had agreed not to play Hamas in the future Palestinian state.
He further said that his government would remain in the principle of a two -state solution and would continue to demand immediate ceasefire, release of hostages and provide humanitarian aid in Gaza.
