The official statement issued after the cabinet meeting said that Prime Minister Starmer told the ministers that the UK could recognize the Palestinian state before the UN General Assembly meeting.

According to the statement, the British Prime Minister called on the Israeli government to take concrete steps to end the ongoing situation in Gaza, to establish a ceasefire, to avoid further land in the West Bank and to initiate lasting peace process based on a two -state solution.

The British Prime Minister also called on Hamas to release all the hostages, agreed to the ceasefire, play no role in the Gaza government and become completely unarmed by surrendering.
