India: Female Engineer Committed Suicide On Pressure from Officers
In the Indian state of Assam, a female engineer committed suicide on pressure from government officials officers.
According to Indian media, the Public Works Department (PWD), 30 -year -old Assistant Engineer, Jyotesha Das, has been found dead at her home on Tuesday.
Police say the woman committed suicide and left a note before she dies, in which two senior officers have been accused of pressuring for the approval of fake bills.
Female engineer Jyotesha Das wrote in a note written by her hand that I am taking this step due to severe mental stress, there is no guidance in the office, I am tired, my parents are also worried.
Police have arrested two officers and sub -divisional officers for lodging a complaint from the woman’s family.
Police say the two officers are alleged to have been pressuring Jyotesha Das to pass the bill for incomplete construction works.
