A survey revealed that an Afghan asylum seeker Zafar traveled from Mainland Europe to France before applying for a refugee position on June 16, caught flight from Manchester on July 16 for Belfast, but British immigration officials gave him his case.
Irish police officers believed that Zafar had planned to file additional benefits in Ireland, but failed to reach the International Protection Office in Dublin, the Guarda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) officers stopped him on the border.
The man revealed after being dropped off the bus between Belfast and Dublin on the motorway that he had a UK asylum registration card, stopped him from crossing the Irish border and was brought back to the UK under Operation Sonate.
