Hotline No. 988, set up to prevent mental health and suicide in the United States, at the behest of President Trump, eliminated a specific option for homosexuals.
According to US media, those who call on the helpline now have the option of male and female to identify the helpline to prevent suicide. The third option was abolished.

The decision was made by the Trump administration by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which announced last month that these special services were being shut down due to the end of funding.
Under this project, the auxiliary hotline began on July 988, 2022, which included separate services for gay youth.
The “Press 3” option was launched under a pilot program, which reached $ 29.7 million in 2023 and $ 33 million in 2024.
By June 2025, all allocated funds were spent on the program, after which it was decided to close it.
Interestingly, in October 2020, former President Donald Trump signed a two -party bill, under which 988 was declared a short number of national suicide rescue hotline.
The bill acknowledged that LGBTQ+ young people suffer four times more than suicide.
But now under the same administration, the 988 hotline facility has been abolished, especially for the weaker sections.
