Donald Trump’s administration has already canceled 40,000 visas this year
President Donald Trump announced the largest visa scrutiny in US history, saying that 55 million visa holders will now undergo a rigorous review process.
According to the American broadcasting organization, the State Department’s statement said that the aim of this measure is to identify any visa holder who is not eligible to stay in the US due to violation of laws or other reasons.
Donald Trump’s administration has taken several steps to tighten visa policy, including canceling the visas of foreign students studying in educational institutions.
In addition, these measures include close monitoring of applicants’ social media accounts and suspending the interview process.
President Trump’s announcement came at a time when humanitarian medical visas for Gaza and Palestinian citizens have been frozen. Palestinian students, patients and general applicants are now also not eligible to enter the United States.
In addition, more than 6,000 student visas have been canceled in 2025 alone. These include students who overstayed their stay, violated laws or faced allegations such as supporting terrorism.
It should be remembered that so far this year, about 40,000 visas have been canceled in the United States, while only 16,000 visas were canceled during the same period during the tenure of former President Joe Biden.
